Happy Purple Day!!!!

March 26th, 2012 · No Comments

Hey everybody, its Purple Day! We at SECA are wishing you all the best today, and we hope you’re wearing purple in support of epilepsy awareness!

We have set up tables at Gerstein Library and at Sid Smith Hall on the University of Toronto. Feel free to swing by and talk to us, maybe even pick up some free stuff!

Also, Cassidy Megan is in Toronto today! She has quite a busy schedule, having opened the Toronto Stock Exchange and hanging out at the Hospital for Sick Children. She is also running a fashion show with Epilepsy Toronto tonight at 45 The Esplanade! Keep your eyes on the news, or if you have time come on out and support Purple Day!

October 19th, 2011 · No Comments

The Andrews-Reiter Conference held this past weekend at the University of Toronto was a great success! I hope everyone enjoyed it, I had a great time. It was a great opportunity to hear about a valuable treatment style, as well as network with everyone in the epilepsy community.

Also, thanks to the speakers and the conference organizers for all their hard work: John Park, Ellen Novack, Donna Andrews, Joel Reiter, Joshua Kors, Siegward Elsas and Rosa Michaelis! We at SECA hope you enjoyed your time in Toronto and at the University proper! We look forward to collaborating further with you in the future!

Epilepsy Conference Toronto

September 29th, 2011 · No Comments

SECA is working in conjunction with Mrs. Ellen Novack, Mr. John Park and Epilepsy Ontario to host the Epilepsy Conference Toronto on October 14 and 15, 2011 at the University of Toronto!

The Conference’s website is located here: www.epilepsyconference.com

Anyone who wishes to attend should register through the website. Friday, October 14 is primarily for medical professionals, but Saturday, October 15 is open to the general public.

The Conference showcases the work of Dr. Donna Andrews (PhD, Neuropsychology) and Dr. Joel Reiter (MD, Neurologist) who have developed and used a neuropsychological approach known as the Andrews-Reiter approach. The approach invites epilepsy patients to learn to recognize their triggers and emotional states, and to come to a better level of control over their seizures.

The Conference will also feature peer-reviewed scientific research on the approach by Dr. Siegward Elsas and Rosa Michaelis, as well as a patient testimonial by Joshua Kors, an investigative journalist with The Nation magazine.

We invite everyone who is interested to attend!
