Happy Purple Day 2013 everybody!

This is the first official Purple Day recognized in federal Canadian law, a major occasion for all of us in the epilepsy community, especially our partners at the Purple Day Campaign!

We want to congratulate everyone who helped make a global day of epilepsy awareness a reality. Also, if you did not see it yesterday, SECA was celebrating Purple Day at our traditional homes of Gerstein Library and Sidney Smith Hall. A big congrats to all SECA team members who made our celebrations a success! Pictures to come soon!

March 13, 2013 · 1 Comment

To all potentially interested individuals, SECA will be holding an election for the position of President starting on Wednesday March 13, 2013 for the 2013-2014 academic year. The nomination period for the position is open for one week from the start date; interested applicants should email their supporting material to seca.utoronto@gmail.com by Wednesday March 20, 2013 at 11:59 pm.

Presidential candidates should send a short email with the following details: 1) their full name as it appears on their University of Toronto student ID card; 2) their contact details (home and business phone, as well as email; these details will not be shared with the public); and 3) a paragraph on their involvement with the epilepsy community, why the candidate feels they will make a good president for SECA, and what their plans are for SECA.

As new nominations come in, the candidates’ names and their paragraph on epilepsy involvement will be published to the SECA website and will be included in email updates to general members. These details will be provided once again when the official vote for the President position is held. All contact details of presidential candidates will be held in confidentiality.

Upon completion of the nomination period on Wednesday March 20, 2013, the voting period shall occur over the following week. The voting period ends on Wednesday March 27, 2013 at 11:59 pm. Votes will be collected through an electronic medium, preferably via SurveyMonkey administered via email to the SECA general membership. Upon completion of the vote, votes for all candidates will be tallied and the winner of the vote will be announced, both on the website and via email. Further details will be made available in the future on candidate selection in the event of a draw.

Thank you in advance to all interested parties. We at SECA look forward to hearing from the candidates!
